Just sayin'...

...say what you will about Sting (and you will), Outlandos D'Amour is a damn near perfect record.

YEAH, but that song was early enough in rock history that it doesn't count!!!!

As you may remember, I've defended Sting (to a point) against many attacks...I love Outlandos. They were just beginning to let go of the punk idea, realizing that none of them were really punks, but they still had that rock energy that, uh, "went away" as they went on. I think I prefer Regatta de Blanc out of all of them, though I love parts of Ghost in the Machine. I think Outlandos would be the most listenable one if stranded on an island.

Stewart's drumming is always inspiring to me as a "budding" drummer...he's so enthusiastic, you can tell that he just likes hitting stuff with sticks and that comes through in the music, no matter what he's playing.

I just came across some multitracks for "Next to You" actually, which are pretty interesting.

It's a dead heat between Regatta and Ghosts, two records that were part of the soundtrack to my high school years, but these guys never put out a bad album...

I love "Next to You" especially. In spite of the early Police reminding me of Jr. High -too good to avoid.

Damn straight. Although I'd say NEAR perfect is right-- Be My Girl - Sally is a little too silly. But yeah. Love it.
