In lighter news...

...Trixi's hair is hot pink now!!

(I sensed an uncomfortable silence after that last post, and thought I'd fill in the blanks with something fun. It is! It's hot pink! And it looks cool as hell. I wish boys could have candy-colored hair without looking like Nick Rhodes circa-1983. But we can't. And if we even color our grey after a certain age (un certain age, apparently, which I near!) we get looked at like we're Ronald Reagan. It's not fair. (stomps up and down). Plus boys don't get cool fashions? What is THAT about? Still they make khaki pants and tassle loafers and shirts with golf logos on them, and still people buy them? GAHHHH!!!!!!!)

(See? Even my MOST INNOCUOUS POST EVER descends into angst and ennui!)

HEY! Noting wrong with hot pink hair. Mine was a few months ago and as it faded, turned into a lovely shade of burnt pinkish orange. Back to natural color now. But it was fun to watch the reactions of my more conservative peers. :)

pics please!!!

Don't get me started on Men's Fashion. You're lucky if a store has a men's section these days. Even glasses, I just got new ones, and they have this massive selection and I'm looking at these awesome giant, hot pink actually, frames and this dude comes over and says, "the men's frames are on that wall" and points to a 2'x5' section of boring men's frames.

I think I'm just going to have to start wearing girl's clothes.

Also: Pleated pants. Ugh.

Pink sounds excellent. Post pics! I might follow suit and have some weird colors streaked in my boring black...hmm. Taupe? Satsuma? Grape?

Certain age you near?! I started going grey when I was 24, damn you. Even now in my early-mid 30s every day brings a new shining silver highlight of mortality. I'm reaching for the Grecian before I'm 40, by cracky.

I've had a gray streak since I was 22. I know it's only a streak since I stopped coloring my hair for a while in the early mommy years. Gray hair can be cool, (especially salt and pepper) but it also sort of adds age regardless. Sad.

Mimi: I vote "Satsuma" only because I don't really know what that is.

Laura: yeah on the grey front. And Andy: I've been grey since about 24, or salt-and-peppered anyway, and I veer between coloring it and letting it fly. A while back I got it professionally colored with little auburn highlights, which looks both good and a little too CAUTIOUS if you know what I mean.

I'll see if I can finagle pics out of Trix.

but jon-age be damned-there is nothing-NOTHING-hotter than a thick head of salt and pepper hair on a man. no amount of candy-colors or solid blacks or browns would ever touch the hotness that is the true salt and pepa. especially when the hair is as thick as teenagers, but on a grown man. i'll throw hands if anyone wants to fight me on this.

How do you feel about a bald dude with salt-n-peppa in the beard?
