Hells yes, I voted.

...NO on Prop 8, and YES on Barack Obama. Also YES on the less-publicized prop 2, which prevents cruelty to farm animals, and NO on the libertarian screenwriter running for Senate.

Overheard at the polling place: "I'm voting for change, yo!"

Also overheard at the polling place: a poor barking dog who was terrified by the HUNDREDS of people waiting in line. Heartening that there were so many people turning out to vote, but people: don't bring your frickin' DOGS to vote, okay? That right's a few years off yet.

If you haven't voted yet -- VOTE. Okay?

Awesome to see Obama win. Too bad about Prop 8 though. I didn't think it'd pass -- there's still work to do. H

ow did the measure regarding treatment of farm animals fare?

Prop 2 passed! So that's one good thing.

Proposition 2-
The proposed Standards for Confining Farm Animals initiative statute. The proposition would add a chapter to Division 20 of the California Health and Safety Code to prohibit the confinement of certain farm animals in a manner that does not allow them to turn around freely, lie down, stand up, and fully extend their limbs. The measure would deal with three types of confinement: veal crates, battery cages, and sow gestation crates.
The statute was approved by voters November 4, 2008. The statute will become operative on January 1, 2015. Farming operations would have until that date to implement the new space requirements for their animals, and the measure would prevent animals in California from being confined in these ways in the future.

It passed :-)

As for Prop 8.....The 'fight' is not over. Not by a long shot!!!
